Daytona 500 Race Review

Date: 2-16-2025.

Name of the race: Daytona 500.

Track: Daytona International Speedway.

Laps: 201 (supposed to be 200, but there was one overtime finish).

Pole Winner: Chase Briscoe.

Outside Pole Winner: Austin Cindric. 

Stage 1 winner: Joey Logano.

Stage 2 winner: Ryan Blaney.

Stage 3 winner (won the race): William Byron.

Top 5: William Byron, Tyler Reddick, 
Jimmie Johnson, Chase Briscoe, and John Hunter Nemechek. 

Fun fact about William Byron: At the age of six William attended his first race at Martinsville Speedway and his interest in becoming a race car driver was peaked after watching a race on television.

Fun fact about Daytona International Speedway: William France Sr's plans for the track broke ground in 1953 to promote the series since at the time they were racing on Daytona Beach Road Course. Then France met with Daytona Beach engineer Charles Moneypenny to discuss the hopes and dreams he had for the new track.

Fun fact about Florida: This state's name came from Spanish explorer Juan Ponce De Leon since he was the one who discovered the new land in 1513, at the time it was called Pascua Florida which means "Feast of Flowers."
