FYI: Rain has been a topic well brought about this 2022 NASCAR season, the Atlanta race was one of many plagued this year by precipitation. Though no rain drops ever fell, the time of the race was pushed up from 3:30 to 3:03 p.m. because of rain from the night before and the threat of thunderstorms during the duration of the race. Chase Elliott was awared the pole by default of the points standings since qualifying was canceled due to Mother Nature. If you all remember from the spring race the track was repaved during the off-season to make it look and race like a superspeedway, but still, have it be a 1.5-mile track. The track is known as Chase Elliott's home track since he is from the town of Dawsonville Georgia, and a landmark in his hometown is the Dawsonville Pool Room. In this famous place, local Chase Elliott fans gather to eat food, chat, and watch Chase on the television. They saw Chase sweep both stages 1 and 2 and looked like the car to beat all day, but cautions plagued his chances for the time being. Corey LaJoie looked like he was going to steal a win away and be the next upset winner, but a bad block sent him into the wall and causing the final caution. On the final restart, Chase Elliott worked his way from the back part of the top ten and finally got the hometown win he has craved his entire career. Now the series moves onto the Granite State where a trophy and a lobster are at stake, but also three playoff spots are up for grabs. Will we see another repeat winner? Will Chase go back-to-back?
