FYI: Road Courses. One of the many varieties of NASCAR tracks on the circuit. Twists, turns, and turning left and right always make for an exciting road course race. Especially when it is on the historic Indianapolis Motor Speedway or also known as The Brickyard. The three-story lines going into the race were Kurt Busch being out for another week due to his concussion from crashing in qualifying at Pocono Raceway, Ty Gibbs filling in for a second week in Kurt's car and gaining more Cup Series experience, and finally the talk of the town was still Denny Hamlin and Kyle Busch's disqualification from the previous week. Tyler Reddick won the pole with Austin Cindric starting right next to him. All throughout the race, there were many and I am not exaggerating MANY crashes with different drivers like last week's winner Chase Elliott and Kyle Larson, The different crashes made it an exciting race to the checkered flag and also made it annoying because it felt like they all were right after one another. An overtime finish came up once again and it looked like it was going to be a battle for the win against Tyler Reddick and Ross Chastain. Ross decided to do a different strategy and finagled the first corner to avoid the hornets' nest which ended up in a thirty-second penalty that NASCAR did not call until the checkered flag flew. Which made it confusing for drivers like Reddick because Chastain took the lead during the overtime finish and they wondered how he was able to keep it, but luckily Reddick was able to pass him and walk away with the victory. Chastain's finish was voided, and Reddick earned the second victory of his career and the second victory on a road course. This win comes from Reddick announcing a few weeks back that he would be leaving Richard Childress Racing after the 2023 season and transferring to 23XI racing for 2024. The series now heads to the two-mile "superspeedway" located in the Irish Hills of Michigan.
Next race: Michigan International Speedway on Sunday afternoon (8-7-2022).
